Smokey's big adventure

Early this morning I could hear a cat meowing outside our window. It sounded kind of familiar but I figured it was a stray (of which there are several) but finally got up to see and it was our large gray cat, Smokey, who is quite friendly with our guests. Somehow she got outside and the poor thing was terrified. She was very relieved to be back inside and has been purring all day.

Local shops make the NY "Times"

I heard about this great article and slide show from the NY Times last week.

They featured several of our favorite shops all right around us- the cafe Bushbaby, Abu's Bakery, Israel's Record Shop, Heavenly Crumbs, Collecther boutique, Al's Mens Shop and Star Perfumes.

We can set you up right here in the neighborhood!

Missing Brooklyn

I've been in LA for tv work for several weeks and it's been interesting to get acquainted with this place. I really like LA, especially the people. I don't love the traffic and it really makes me appreciate our car free lifestyle in Brooklyn. Weather has been pretty fabulous here and I love the lush plants. Can't wait to see my family!!

Our Guest Annie

We had an interesting guest stay with us last week. Annie was organizing a demonstration outside of JP Morgan Chase headquarters protesting mountaintop removal coal mining that Chase is a large investor in. Go Annie!!
Check out her noble efforts at http://www.thedirtylie.com and http://www.ran.org
By the way, Spencer Place Bed and Breakfast uses wind power. At least we pay for it but I'm not sure how to actually determine if the power we receive and use is from some wind farm somewhere or not. We think it is.
